Before founding Herring & Trowbridge Architects with Mr. Trowbridge in 1991, Mr. Herring served as the Mid-Atlantic Regional Partner for House Reh Associates, a Houston based architectural firm. In this position he was responsible for all east coast architectural activities, including over 2 million square feet of space in a variety of building types serving clients from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to Richmond, Virginia.

Mr. Herring’s professional twenty five years of experience is comprised of a well balanced mix of technical expertise, creative design, and management. His technical background includes structural engineering, considerable experience with all major construction materials, lighting design, and solar/energy efficient design. Mr. Herring has also provided technical review consultation for other professionals including masonry, cut stone work, flashing, glass and glazing systems, sealant systems, and roofing.

Mr. Herring has participated in the design of a variety of award winning buildings and his design expertise has earned him numerous academic awards. He has served as a jury member on the national A.I.A. Naval Facilities Awards competition.

Mr. Herring holds a Bachelor of Architecture degree, Summa Cum Laude, is NCARB certified, and is a registered architect in Virginia, Delaware, New Jersey, North Carolina, Florida and Pennsylvania.


Mr. Trowbridge’s thirty five year background is highly diversified stemming from his relationship with several of the nations leading architectural firms. Firms such as CRS Serrine, House Reh associates, and CHK Architects. He has held positions as Project Architect, Project Manager, Director of Construction Services, Director of Project Management and Managing Partner.

He has been Project Manager on numerous projects such as garden apartments, shopping centers, office buildings, and major medical facilities. He has been Project Designer on numerous interiors and furnishings projects ranging from space planning and design for News USA, a 7800 sq. ft. tenant improvement project, to design and furnishings for Premium Distributors, a 102,000 sq. ft. office and distribution facility.  His technical background includes research, technical review, design, field observation and reporting, and control of testing programs for various components of major building skin systems. He has been Project Director for projects as large and diverse as a $200 million luxury condominium project in Chevy Chase, Maryland to a 22 story signature office building for McDonnell Douglas in Irvine, California.

Mr. Trowbridge holds a Bachelor of Architecture degree, is an A.I.A. Corporate Member, and has been awarded Construction Documents Technology Certification from the Construction Specifications Institute. He is currently registered in Missouri, Maryland, New Jersey, Georgia, Kentucky and The District of Columbia, and holds NCARB certification.


Mr. Siegfried has eighteen years of experience as a Project Architect, Project Manager, Project Designer and CAD instructor.  His professional experience has exposed him to a variety of project types.  He has a lead role on numerous  projects ranging from master planning to building design of office buildings, office warehouses, retail centers and professional and medical projects, as well as multi-unit, assisted living housing.

He has been Project Designer on Diamond Shamrock Headquarters in San Antonio, a 210,000 sf. corporate headquarters, The Hinton Center, a 60,000 sf. faculty / student center building for Houston Baptist University, and Memorial City Medical Professional Building III, a 12 story, 300,000 sf. medical office center with a 7 level garage.  He has designed K*TEC Electronics, a 250,000 sf. office & manufacturing warehouse and The Terrace, a 560 unit Retirement Living Community. The six story, 195,000 sf Reston Crescent Phase One and Westbrook Corporate Center, a three story 200,000 sf office building.

Most recently Mr. Siegfried has been the Project Designer and Manager for 1200 Atwater Boulevard and the Atwater Master Plan. 1200 Atwater Boulevard is the first of 15 projects in the 350 acre Atwater Office Park. When completed the park will contain over 2.5 million square feet of office space.


Mr. Harrison established the Houston office of Herring & Trowbridge Architects in 1998. He brings to the firm, twenty four years of architectural experience.

Before joining us, Mr. Harrison served his clients with a wide range of project types including new construction as well as renovations and restoration of office building, retail, medical, industrial, educational and recreational facilities. He carries a broad range of experience including design, project management, construction documents,  and construction administration.  

Mr. Harrison's accomplishments include:

 •Freedom Walk - Addition to Houston Heights World War II Memorial Plaza
  Heights Boulevard and 11th Street, Houston
 •Netway Center @ Loudoun Technology Center - one story data      center/office warehouse building in Loudoun County, Virginia
 •Baker Hughes Process Systems - a 35,000 square foot, two story upscale
   tilt-wall office building with a 10,000 square foot warehouse/assembly

  •Baker Hughes Training Center Expansion - a 34,000 square foot, one story    masonry addition to a corporate training facility incorporating worldwide data    center, food service, lavatory and computer classrooms. (Kirksey and Partners Architects)
 •CNA Office Building - a 230,000 square foot fast track in Baltimore County     Maryland for Trammell Crow Company (House Reh Associates Architects)
  •IBM Distribution Center - a two story, 87,000 square foot  office/warehouse in    Beltsville, Maryland (House Reh Associates Architects)
  •Arboretum D - a nine story, 162,000 square foot precast office building and     garage located in Austin, Texas (House Reh Associates Architects)
  •Memorial City Medical Center Phase VI Addition and Renovation
  a 7 story hospital and professional offices in Houston, Texas (House Reh Associates Architects)
  •Memorial City Professional Tower - a proposed 12 story professional building     with outpatient surgery center & retail in Houston, Texas (House Reh Associates Architects)

Mr. Harrison received his Bachelor of Architecture Degree, Cum Laude,  from the University of Houston.  He is a licensed architect in the State of Texas.


Mr. Karn has twenty years of experience as an architect in the D. C. metropolitan area and for the last twelve years has been a Senior Project Manager.  Mr. Karn has directed all aspects of design, administration and construction for a wide range of projects including new construction, renovation and restoration of commercial, residential, educational, recreational and instructional facilities.

He has designed and managed projects as diverse as the $3.5 million Herndon Aquatic Center, the $3.5 million Barcroft Elementary School Addition/Renovation, the $2.5 million George Mason Regional Library Addition/Renovation and the $12 million Fairfax Hospital Radiology Addition/Renovation.  In addition, his work has included a wide range of school, fire stations, libraries, recreation/aquatic centers, office buildings and healthcare projects.  His design background includes the award for design of the Church of the Good Shepherd Sanctuary Addition/Renovation through a design competition.

Mr. Karn received a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University graduating as a member of the Tau Sigma Delta Honor Society.  He is a licensed architect in the State of Virginia.
